Love this cooler. Very well built and cools/freezes fast. I would definitely recommend anyone wanting a cooler to buy Setpower.
This is my first time trying this brand. Comparing to my 2 Domestic CFX (45 and 75), Set Power is way cheaper in price, light weight, cold, and has dual zone. However, the material is cheap and not as strong as Domestic and it does not hold the coldness as long as Domestic while unplug. The strap points are weak and look cheap.
I am pleased to tell you that Setpower has been quite a wonderful company to have stood behind their products. Friendly, timely, professional ! Thanks
I bought 2 PG216 Wh portable power stations for my setpower fridge. I use them while driving instead of plugging into my lighter socket.I can shop, pitch my tent and make camp while using these. I then use a Bluetti power station while camping. Just like there fridges, good price, good products and excellent service.
Battery lasted almost 7 hrs on a medium setting in 100 degree heat would be nice if if came with 12Volt cigarette type plug as well. Overall construction robust and way outperformed rRyobi and Dewalt battery fans being used nearby.
We have been using this DT55 for a month now. We were pretty amazed at how quickly it cooled, about 25 minutes to cool to 32 and about 40 minutes to 10 for freezer side. We have used this in our home, our truck and our travel trailer. I highly recommend this portable cooler! Only downside I have experienced is how the cord plugs into cooler, seems it should face the opposite direction. But it is not a deal breaker and haven't had any issues.
Obviously, and refund or discount on products are always very appreciated! So you get auto 5 stars when you ask if I am happy with a discount.
It's Outstanding, works flawlessly, reaches any temp zone and stays there in any configuration. I recommend the DT35
My fridge arrived and when we opened the box, there was a ton of damage. The control panel was pushed in and there was at least 15 broken pieces of plastic. It looked like someone dropped it from a height. I took pictures and emailed Setpower. Customer service was quick to reply and I received a new DT48 a week later! It was a bummer having a broken one, but they made it right. The new one is working great!
Long time SetPower customer (bought and still use an RV45S back in 2021/2022, bought a PT55 in 2023. Now in 2025 I’ve picked up this RV65D).
My PT55 experienced a failure (temperature sensor) and I was in need of a replacement. I was pleased to discover that my favorite RV-series style now had a new, larger capacity AND came in dual-zone, the perfect replacement for my PT55.
I like the deep trench in the freezer- I have a couple large ice packs that fit there perfectly.
Baskets in the fridge zone to stack items, making the best of the space available.
I like that the control panels are now located on the front of the unit, power connection on the side. This feels more convenient to me.
As always, 12/24V DC, so I can plug it directly into my solar battery.
And, next to the lid switch/light in each zone looks to be, could it be? A mounted DHT11 or DHT22 humidity and temperature sensor? That would make the temperature sensors much easier to replace on this model (that’s what did my PT55 in, and they’re not exposed like this is). If so: I really really like that.
Oh: it has drainage plugs! In both zones. That’s new to me (coming from the RV45S and PT55). That’s a nice addition too.
Excited to try out the Anderson power connector at some point. That seems like a nice option to have (of course, I don’t presently HAVE any Anderson connectivity- just XT60 and DC barrel connectors, with a thought towards trying out SAE).
If I had to list cons: it seems a bit noisier. Maybe due to the standard compressor have more space to cool. Maybe it is a larger capacity compressor, and therefore has a bit more oomph. Just something to be aware of.
The exposed temperature sensor, while great, also seems to impact proper temperature sensing if blocked. I found my RV65D compressor on almost constantly as it was trying and failing to detect adequate temperature. Be mindful of that- give it some space and it seems happier. This is something that should be mentioned in the manual (I didn’t recall encountering such).
Maybe it is these recent weeks, being hot and humid, since I’ve received and put the fridge in use, but a lot of condensation seems to form between the fridge and lids (both zones). This results in some freezing (thin layer, like a jagged line, of ice) on the freezer side, so every day I take a paper town and wipe it down.
All in all, compared to my RV45S that I bought 3-4 years ago, the RV65D is a welcome upgrade all around (the RV45S is still plugging alone, working fine).
Compared to the PT55? The PT55 is TALL- I prefer the larger footprint of the RV65D and less height. Maybe others would prefer otherwise. Something to keep in mind.
I’m a fan of fewer moving parts and electronic doo-dads. I see SetPower has some app-driven (DT?) series of fridges, which I’ll never touch, not even with a 10 foot pole. Give me as few, but manual, buttons as possible, please.
The PT55 has plastic latches, something that likely will break with use over time.
The RV45S and RV65D have metal latches mounted on the outside, with mounting screws visible (and no foolery with the screw head type). So, even if the metal latch broke, I could replace it. The PT55 would seem more problematic in that regard.
So, the RV-series from SetPower (and the RV65D) is highly regarded by me. I hope both my fridges continue to offer me years of reliable service.
Suggestion for possible improvement: have a button to toggle the displays on and off. As it is, I cover the displays with black electrical tape to block out the piercing green light, which gives off too much light pollution for me at night. If I could just turn the displays off when I didn’t need them, that would be super-useful. Even if it is some button combo as currently exists for things like switching temperature or selectively enabling/disabling zones.
Keep the RV series simple, please! I don’t want wifi-connectivity. I don’t want an app. This is a beautiful product and series of fridge.
I like the protection it gives and seems to be insulating as well. Took on camping trip and worked well.
I ordered this replacement cord due to the breakage of the original 12volt male end. The cord I just received is much better, installs at a 90 degree angle (nicer than coming straight out) and seems to be constructed of higher quality material. The fridge is in my truck, gets used all the time and it is so nice to have on long drives and camping trips. Happy that this new cord works so well.
This fridge is awesome. The power supplied to this fridge on a camping trip was from my goal zero. Power is supplied by two solar panels. Obviously, during the day it kept up with the fridge and at night ran off the store battery. By morning, it was only down to 87%. I highly recommend this set up and at a fraction of the cost of What the popular namebrand units go for.
I ran it freezer at -4 and fridge at 34 off a litime 12 volt 100 amp hour battery. Fridge freezer was empty. It ran for 3 and a half days. Ambient temperature was 73 degrees. A harbor freight medium generator cover fit’s it like a glove for $14.99 Have not used enough yet to give it 5 stars. So far so good.
We use the RF20 exclusively to make ice on our boat, where we live aboard and cruise the waters of NW Washington and southern British Columbia for six months each year. The boat doesn’t have built-in refrigeration, but our 200W solar setup keeps the battery charged and the freezer running. We rotate eight reusable ice packs daily—four in the freezer, four in a large cooler. Each day, we swap them. We’re still experimenting to find the best setting for ice production and battery conservation. So far, with the RF20 set to ECO and -7°C, the ice packs are rock hard when swapped, and those coming out of the cooler are still about half frozen. Next, we’ll try -5°C, which we expect will still give us solid ice. After two weeks, we’re very happy with this little freezer and hope it continues to perform well.
I like that the handles don't have to be installed. It fits in my backseat better that way. It does tend to run colder than set when plugged into the wall, vs. 12v. At 37 F, the compressor runs for about 8-10 minutes, once an hour. That's with an ambient temp of 68F. Runs more often when outdoors in the heat. But it seems very efficient.
I wish the lid was hinged on one of the long sides. Would make it easier to open in the backseat. The removable basket is useless to me. I'd rather that be an option. I'd rather have the cover come with the fridge instead. Simple operation, good value for the money.
I put the original cord in a place to always know where to find it, I’m sure it will turn up one of these days🤔 Replacement was shipped and received within a few days. *****
Haven't had a chance to use it on a trip yet. We did hook it up and it cooled down immediately. Looks like a very nice product. I think we will make good use of it.
I haven’t used it camping yet, however I did plug it in to see if it worked. Once it got cold (Freezer setting) I place a frozen packet in it. 24 hrs. Later checked it and still frozen. So it works in the house and very low noise output. Impressed
Works great! We use these to bring groceries and supplies back home from “town.” Keeps chilled products fresh and cool over the 40-minute drive.
